Integrated Overdrive
Articulate Drive from clean boost to expressive crunch
A versatile overdrive designed to move seamlessly from transparent boost to articulate saturation, featuring active filtering and multiple bass makeup modes.
Sound Character
The Integrated Overdrive is designed to move seamlessly between roles. At lower settings it functions as a clean or lightly driven boost, preserving articulation and pick dynamics. As gain is increased, the pedal delivers a smooth, expressive overdrive that retains clarity and definition without collapsing into harsh distortion.
Core Design Features
While some pedals prioritize a strictly neutral frequency response and others rely on a fixed mid-range emphasis, Phase Two Music pedals use an active second-order filter with adjustable resonance.
This approach allows the frequency response to range from flat and transparent to focused, resonant, and even wah-like behaviors—offering significantly more tonal flexibility than traditional tone stacks.
The second-order filter also enables precise control of high-frequency content. Harsh or fizzy upper harmonics, often in the 5–10 kHz range, can be reduced while preserving or enhancing the upper-mid frequencies that give electric guitar its power and “throaty” character.
Both pedals also include a post-distortion bass makeup circuit, ensuring a full, authoritative low end without sacrificing clarity.
RThe Integrated Overdrive includes multiple bass makeup modes to support different musical applications. One mode disables bass reinforcement entirely, allowing the pedal to function as a traditional overdrive or boost into another pedal or amplifier while maintaining a tight low-end response.
Two additional bass makeup modes progressively reinforce low frequencies, allowing the pedal to remain full and balanced when used as a standalone drive—even at lower gain settings.
Clipping is achieved using a combination of diode types, producing a soft-clipping response that sits between smooth overdrive and harsher distortion. The Drive control spans from nearly clean to gain levels approaching medium distortion, while maintaining touch sensitivity.
Controls
VOL – Overall output level. At higher settings, the pedal can function as a gain boost.
DIST – Controls the amount of drive, from nearly clean to high-gain textures.
FREQ – Sets the center frequency of the active filter. Used with RES for tonal shaping.
RES – Controls filter resonance, from subtle shaping to highly focused tones.
BASS – Post-distortion bass makeup control.
