Why Distortion Pedals Cut Bass Before Clipping
Many guitarists chase more gain, but clarity is often the key to great distortion tone. In this video, I compare a distortion pedal with and without its input high-pass filter and show how excessive low frequencies can overwhelm higher notes. Through audio examples, and laboratory measurement , I’ll explain why pedal designers often reduce bass before clipping and how that helps preserve clarity and note definition.
